Note:	Addison B. LeBoutillier: A most versatile Massachusetts artist and architect, A. B. LeBoutillier was equally gifted as an etcher, ex-libris engraver, wood carver, medalist, painter and pottery designer. After his formal studies as an architect, LeBoutillier first gained recognition in Boston in the 1890's for his pen and ink illustrations. His initial exhibited etchings date from the later First World War (1917-18) when he produced a number of striking plates detailing the devastation of French cities and towns. After the war LeBoutillier returned to Boston and continued creating etchings of New England architecture and landscapes. He also authored the monograph, The Early Wooden Architecture of Andover, Massachusetts (1917).
	Perhaps Addison LeBoutillier's best known art, however, was in the medium of Faience pottery. Along with Henry Belknap, A. B. LeBoutillier was a primary designer for the famous Grueby Pottery. Today the art of Addison LeBoutillier is included in such major public collections as the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
	The Print Connoisseur published illustrated articles on contemporary etchers and engravers on a quarterly basis from January, 1920 to December, 1931. A minimum of one original print was commissioned for each issue and the more expensive, limited editions of 100 each contained a signed impression in pencil by the artist. During its decade of publishing such major artists as George Elbert Burr, Frank Benson, Lynd Ward, Harry Cimino, J. W. Winkler, A. B. LeBoutillier, Alan Lewis, Eugene Paul Metour and J. J. Lankes contributed original etchings, wood engravings and woodcuts. This New York based publication was thus responsible for commissioning some of the finest original art of early twentieth century America. Pine Trees was published in January of 1926 in a limited edition of 100 artist signed impressions.

Condition:	Printed upon thick wove paper and with full margins as published by The Print Connoisseur in January of 1926. Bearing LeBoutillier's 'Le B' monogram within the plate to the lower right and signed in pencil by him along the lower left margin for the limited edition of one hundred impressions. A fine, deeply printed impression and in excellent condition throughout. Pine Trees represents a superb, original example of the etched art of Addison B. LeBoutillier.
