Art of The Print - Our Policy Guide

Art of the Print / www.artoftheprint.com Guarantees the authenticity of every work of art we sell 100%. All art is accompanied by a warranty guaranteeing both the originality of the works of art as well as biographical or historical documentation obtained through our research. Reference sources quoted, refer to standard illustrated and annotated catalogues for the artists or bibliography concerning the works of art.

Our Gallery, Art of the Print sells original etchings, engravings, lithographs, aquatints, mezzotints, woodcuts, wood engravings, silk-screens, monoprints, paintings, watercolors, drawings and other mediums of original art. Our collection features American, Canadian, British, French, German, Italian, Dutch and Japanese art including works from many other countries. The collected works range from the early Renaissance period to modern and contemporary art. You can find categories ranging from original fine art to speciality collecting such as animals, botanicals, genre, maps, military art, posters and advertising, satirical art, sports and many other interests.

Purchasing Works from Art of the Print - Warranty

All works are extensively researched and are provided with a detailed description. Each work is accompanied by a warranty guaranteeing both the originality of the work and the artist's signature. Reference notes in the descriptions refer to standard illustrated and annotated catalogues of the artist's work. Usually copies of these references can be provided to prospective purchasers. Most works are in very good condition and a complete condition report is available on any work of interest (particularly important with pre-twentieth century works). Additional information on individual works is frequently available.

All works are subject to a limited return privilege. This means that there is a money back guarantee. If for any reason, you do not wish to keep the artwork, simply notify us within 3 days upon your receipt of artwork. Then return it to the carrier for shipment the next day--by insured shipping. A full refund (less shipping, handling and insurance cost) is then issued upon our receipt of artwork at our place of business, provided that the Artwork is returned in the same condition and free from any claims.

Artwork must be in the same condition as it was when mailed to the buyer and all documentation provided must be returned as well.

We honour all requests for independent authentication, with arrangements to be made (and cost to be borne) by the buyer.

We have noted a number of "questionable" works being offered on the Internet. It is important to deal with a reputable dealer who is both knowledgeable and willing to back up each work sold with a complete and detailed description as well as a warranty. Beware of brokers who post "lists" of works that they have neither inspected nor would be willing to guarantee.

Research Material

Thank you for your interest in our gallery. If you have any questions about the information or artwork featured on this site, please Email our gallery (Art of The Print / www.artoftheprint.com) or telephone at (905) 957- 6666 (Greg or Connie Peters).

Unfortunately, due to the enormous amount of requests, we will no longer be able to provide extra material for research projects or works of art that you own.

It is not possible to give an appraisal on a work of art if you send an image. There are so many clever reproductions which makes it a requirement to inspect the work personally. Prints generally follow the same monetary rules as paintings and sculpture. The value of the piece is determined by the importance of the artist, the condition and state of the work, its rarity and whether or not it represents a good or poor example of what the artist was capable of.

Our www.artoftheprint.com (Directory Search Form) page provides a listing of the various directories on our site to help you find information sorted by category.

The "www.artoftheprint.com (Featured Artist's Biography)" pages, the "www.artoftheprint.com (Featured Publisher's History)" pages and the "www.artoftheprint.com (Art Reference Library)" pages will continue to expand as we include more works of art along with research material to help you.

In addition, our "www.artoftheprint.com (Printmaking as an Original Art)" page contains an explanation of the different graphic art mediums and tips for the novice if you need help.

Currently we have over three thousand original pieces by international artists, both present and past. If you are looking for artwork that is not listed on this site, please Email our gallery (Art of The Print / www.artoftheprint.com) and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

(Art of The Print / www.artoftheprint.com) is dedicated to the history of art and knowledge. We do hope this information has been helpful.

Gallery Hours

Our hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 A.M. to 9 P.M. Eastern time. Sunday we are available 12 to 6 P.M.

You can Email our gallery (Art of The Print / www.artoftheprint.com) or by phone (905) 957- 6666 (Greg or Connie Peters) for further information concerning items that are posted on our site. Please let us know if you are searching for artwork that is not listed on our site for possible purchase. We will assure prompt attention to your interests. It would be helpful if you were to inform us of the best possible time to contact you.

Matting and Framing

Each work is attractively mounted using 100 % archival materials. The pages that contain the information for each work of art will describe if the piece has been matted and or framed. It is possible to purchase the works of art without the frame if you prefer.

Some of the images for the framed or matted works have already been included for your viewing. If this image is available you will see a View Matted image or View Framed image link on the left side of the artist's page. If the image is not available, please contact us.

Price

Our Canadian dollar prices have been converted into US currency for the convenience of the international market. However, since we are a Canadian company, all charges to your card must be processed in Canadian funds in accordance with the bank exchange rate on the day of purchase. Note: Please understand that the exchange rate does not mean we add extra charges to your card. It is the conversion that equals US dollars into Canadian dollars. A copy of the bank exchange rate on the day charges are processed will be included with your invoice.

Listed prices do not include taxes and or customs duties (if Applicable). Shipping, handling, and or insurance charges are the responsibility of the buyer. In case of conflict, firm orders take precedence and in the sequence received. All works of art are subject to a prior sale agreement. Prices can be modified by us without notice but, not during a purchase transaction.

Means and terms of payment

Payment in full is expected at or before time of delivery, except when otherwise agreed upon by Art of the Print. Reserved items will be held for 10 days pending receipt of payment. It is expressively agreed that the transfer of property of the goods is only effective after total payment of the price.

Most purchases are made with credit cards. This is probably the safest as well as the most efficient method to complete a purchase. One important advantage of using a credit card is that credit card companies protect users (buyers) from fraud as well as misuse by unauthorized parties. Fears about fraudulent use of credit cards on the Internet may seem vastly overblown to you, but due to our security policy, we prefer that our transactions be finalized over the phone. We believe such transactions are safer. We accept Visa, Master Card, Amex, International Money Orders and Bank Drafts. Checks must clear prior to shipment. For insurance and other purposes, title must pass to the buyer prior to shipment; therefore, we cannot ship in advance of order and payment.

Payment plans are available. Call us at (905)-957- 6666 (Greg or Connie Peters) or Email our gallery (Art of The Print / www.artoftheprint.com) for additional information.

Shipping & Handling

Buyer is responsible for shipping, handling and insurance costs and may arrange to have their purchases retrieved and shipped by any means they choose. If requested, we will ship as agents of the buyer, with shipping costs to be borne by the buyer. To protect all customers and our business, insurance and tracking must be a service provided with the shipping agent of your choice. Shipping is charged at the actual cost of postage and insurance; no additional fees are added. All works are ready for immediate worldwide delivery.

Selling Art?

Thank you for your interest in our website. If you have any questions about the information or artwork featured on this site, please Email our gallery (Art of The Print / www.artoftheprint.com) or telephone at (905) 957- 6666 (Greg or Connie Peters).

Unfortunately, due to the enormous amount of requests, it is difficult to get back to everyone as quickly as we would like. We hope that the following information will help you on your quest.

It is not possible to give an appraisal on any work of art without actually inspecting the piece first. Sending an image is not helpful, since there are so many clever reproductions. This makes it a requirement to inspect the work personally.

We cannot purchase an item if we provide the appraisal. It is a conflict of interest and highly improper. We suggest you check around first before selling, meaning check all websites and auction records that have any art by this artist in order to obtain the best price.

If you sell to a gallery or a dealer, you should not expect to get the current market value. All Galleries have framing and other expenses before they can sell their investment and make a profit. You can also try selling through auction, but like anything else you should make sure they are reputable.

Original prints (graphic works of art) generally follow the same monetary rules as paintings, watercolors, drawings and sculpture. The value of the piece is determined by the importance of the artist, the condition and state of the work, its rarity and whether or not it represents a good or poor example of what the artist was capable of.

The following factors are a helpful guide to follow:

1.- Condition

2.- Size

3.- Subject Matter: what type of image is the artist more highly regarded for

4.- Medium: (for example, etching, oil painting, watercolor, drawing, etc.)

5.- Presentation: Is the piece framed or matted properly

6.- Other Important Factors: If it is a graphic work of art: (state, edition, impression, proof, etc. are important).

7.- Price Records: A period of at least ten years provides a more accurate value.

Then, and only then, can you establish the true value for an original work of art.
