Norbert Lenz's delightful portrait depicting the caricature of a business man for 'Lipton's Tea' advertising is an original graphite drawing created by the American artist, between 1945 and 1950. It is signed by the artist in soft pencil to the lower right. Caricature of a Business Man Drawn for Lipton's Tea is a fine, original example of the art created by the 20th century artist, Norbert Lenz.

Note: Norbert Lenz: A twentieth century American painter, illustrator and commercial artist, Norbert Lenz received his artistic education at the Huntington Polytechnic Institute and the Cleveland School of Art. During his career Lenz exhibited his paintings and drawings at such institutions as the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Butler Institute of American Art. Today the art of Norbert Lenz is included in the following collections; the Columbus Museum of Art, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Butler Institute of American Art.
  Caricature of a Business Man Drawn for Lipton's Tea was acquired with two other related drawings. On the lower margin of two of these drawings one can read the faint, printed words, "for Lipton's Tea". Furthermore, each of these caricatures originally included each the men holding a glass of ice tea in their hands (to the lower right). One might assume that after the Lipton's Tea company had finished with these advertising images, Norbert Lenz eliminated the hand holding the glass of tea to make the caricatures less specific and more general, to be used, perhaps, for some other function.

Condition: Drawn upon thin china paper and with full margins. Signed by the artist in soft pencil to the lower right. Bearing the words and changes noted above.
