Righteous

David Sharir's original silkscreen (serigraph), "Righteous" was created by the Israeli artist around 1980. It is printed on white, pure rag paper with full margins as published in an edition of two hundred and fifty impressions. It signed and numbered, '1/250' by the artist in pencil on the lower margin, and also bears the 'transworld art' seal on the verso. "Righteous" is a fine, original example of the art of David Sharir, one of Isreals major masters of modern art.

Note: David Sharir: A leading contemporary Israeli artist, David Sharir first studied art in Tel Aviv. He then became a student at the Academia del Bella Arte, Florence, Italy, and studied both architecture and theatre design at the University of Rome. Upon his return to Israel, David Sharir first gained fame for his many great theatre designs. His first one man exhibitions of art took place in Tel Aviv (1959) and Rome (1961). Since that time his art has been frequently exhibited in Israel, Italy, Germany, France and the United States. David Sharir's original prints and paintings are now included in such major collections as the Tel Aviv Museum, Israel, the Israel Museum, Jerusalem, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Los Angeles County Museum.
  The art of David Sharir draws upon many elements. He has found inspiration from such forms of art as the calligraphy of Torah scribes, medieval Hebrew manuscripts, the paintings of Italian primitives and the work of Russian folk art to create his own both beautiful and highly decorative style. Righteous is a superb example of his most unique and compelling art.

Condition: Printed on white, pure rag paper with full margins as published around 1980. Signed and numbered, '1/250' by the artist in pencil on the lower margin. Also bearing the 'transworld art' seal on the verso. Containing several very slight creasing in the upper corners, else a strongly printed, vibrant impression and in very good condition throughout. Righteous represents a large and brilliant example of the art of David Sharir, one of the major masters of modern Israeli art.
