Note:	Josef Seger: A twentieth century Austrian etcher, painter and arts teacher, Josef Seger studied art in Vienna at the Graphic Teaching and Research Institute and at the Academy of Pictorial Art, under Alfred Cossmann. Before the Second World War (1939-1945), Josef Seger exhibited his original etchings in Vienna, Berlin, Munich and elsewhere.
	After the end of World War Two, Josef Seger became a Professor at the Vienna Academy. In 1948 he was chosen to design a new set of postage stamps by the government of Austria. Working in conjunction with the Museum of Folk Art, Vienna, Josef Seger produced the famous stamps depicting the traditional costumes of Austria.
	The British Museum, London, includes an impression of Josef Seger's "Bergkirche in Liechtenstein" (Mountain Church in Liechtenstein) in its permanent collection.
	Vervielfaltigende Kunst: During the early twentieth century leading art journals around the world published original etchings, lithographs and woodcuts on a regular basis. Some of the greatest prints from this vital era were commissioned and published by "The Studio", in London, "Pan", in Germany, "The Print Connoisseur", in America and "Vervielfaltigende Kunst", in Vienna.
	"Vervielfaltigende Kunst" issued it first original etching in 1871. During the following sixty years it published masterworks by Austrian, German, Czech, Swiss, French, Dutch and English artists. More internationally focused and less conservative than most of its rival publishers, "Vervielfaltigende Kunst" became a spearhead for the vibrant experiments of Symbolist, Expressionist and Secessionist artists during the initial decades of the twentieth century. Also, its superb printing techniques were second to none. As a result, "Vervielfaltigende Kunst" is now regarded as a most vital fine art publisher of its day and individual prints from this publication are eagerly sought after on the international market.

Condition:	Printed upon smooth, wove paper and with large, full margins as commissioned and published by "Vervielfaltigende Kunst" in 1937. Titled, credited and bearing the publisher's address along the lower margin. A finely printed impression and in excellent condition throughout.
