Farm II

Barbara Newcombe's, original embossed etching and aquatint, "Farm II" was created by the contemporary Australian artist in 1977 and published in a limited edition of one hundred impressions. This large and impressive intaglio bears heavy embossing which compliments the textural qualities explored within the varying masses of fields and pastures. The tiny, brown building (upper center) is literally engulfed by the expanse of the land. This original impression of "Farm II" is printed upon pure rag paper and with full, deckled margins as published. It is signed, dated, titled and numbered in pencil by Barbara Newcombe along the lower margin.

Note: Barbara Newcombe: A twentieth century Australian painter and printmaker, Barbara Newcombe studied art techniques in her native country before completing her education in intaglio printmaking at Atelier 17, Paris. Her first published prints date from the 1960's, and since that time her art has been exhibited in Europe, the United States and Australia. Today the fine art of Barbara Newcombe is included in the permanent collection of the University of New South Wales and elsewhere.
  Farm II is both an intriguing and complex work of art. Here Barbara Newcombe has skillfully rendered tonal and color variations as well as strong, textural elements.

Condition: Printed upon pure rag paper and with full, deckled margins as published in New York in 1977. Pencil signed, dated, titled and numbered, '46/100' by the artist along the lower margin. Bearing the 'Marden Fine Arts' stamp on the verso. A finely printed impression and in excellent condition throughout. "Farm II" represents a large and impressive example of the lancscape art created by the twentieth century Australian artist, Barbara Newcombe.
