Gulls

A major element in Leon Gordon Miller's art has been to create a visual interpretation of the geometric form, both for his graphic art and his stained glass designs. "Gulls", is a superb example of Leon Gordon Miller's art techniques. This original linocut is printed upon hand made, laid mulberry paper and with full margins as created by Miller in the limited edition of fifty nine impressions around 1960. It is signed in the block with the artist's 'LM' mongram and signed in pencil and numbered by Leon Gordon Miller.

Note: Leon Gordon Miller: A modern American painter, printmaker and stained glass artist, Leon Gordon Miller was widely represented in major American exhibitions from 1950 to 1985. During this time one man exhibitions of Leon Gordon Miller's art were held at such institutions as the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Kennedy Gallery, the American Jewish Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Fine Arts. Miller also won the prestigious America Graphics Arts Award in 1975 for his work in the media of silk-screen, linocuts and woodcuts. A major element in Leon Gordon Miller's art has been to create a visual interpretation of the geometric form, both for his graphic art and his stained glass designs. "Gulls", is a superb example of Miller's art in the medium of the linocut. One can see why this brilliant artist won this prestigious Award.
  Today, Leon Gordon Miller's woodcuts, linocuts and silk-screens are included in such major collections as the Library of Congress, Washington, DC, and the Yale University Library. After his death in 1985, Mrs. Polly Miller donated many of his prints and blocks to the permanent collection at the University of Central Florida. Leon Gordon Miller was as well an active lecturer and author. In 1967, he illustrated and co-authored (with Polly Miller), Lost Heritage of Alaska: Adventure and Art of Alaskan Coastal Indians. In 1973, he co-authored (with J. W. Bernstein), Stained-Glass Craft.
