Nathan Gornick's original etching, "Pointer", was commissioned by the Associated Artists (A.A.A.) around 1940. This Minnesota artist contributed at least two original etchings to this New York City publisher at this period in time. This original impression is printed upon hand-made, laid paper and with full margins and signed, titled and noted, ‘Ed(ition)/150’ by Gornick in pencil along the lower plate-mark. "Pointer" represents a fine example of the animal art created by the American artist, Nathan I. Gornick.

Note: Nathan I. Gornick 'Nathan Gornick': A Minnesota painter and etcher, Nathan I. Gornick specialized in animal studies and landscapes. In the 1940’s the Associated American Artists published several of his original etchings, including Pointer, in signed editions of one hundred and fifty impressions. The Associated American Artists (A. A. A.) was created in the mid 1930’s and commissioned original graphic art from such great American masters as Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh and many others. During the 1950’s and 1960’s it published lithographs and etchings by artists of no less distinction, such as, Jack Levine, Sidney Chafetz, Alexander Dobkin and Marion Greenwood.

Condition: Printed upon hand-made, laid paper and with full margins as published in New York around 1940. Signed, titled and noted, ‘Ed(ition)/150’ by the artist in pencil along the lower plate-mark. Very slight creasing and staining exists in the upper left margin, else a fine, strong impression and in good condition throughout. "Pointer" represents a fine, original example of the animal art of Nathan I. Gornick.
