Robert Cruikshank's, original etching, "A Dandy Fainting or - an Ekquisite in Fits" is printed on early 19th century wove paper and large, full margins as published for the second and final edition by Thomas McLean in 1835. It is a fine, original example of the satirical art created by the British artist, Robert Cruikshank.

Note: Issac Robert Cruikshank 'Robert Cruikshank': The elder brother of the famous satirical artist, George Cruikshank (1792-1878), Issac Robert Cruikshank first studied art under his father, Isaac Cruikshank (1762-1811). During the Napoleonic wars he served in the merchant navy and then turned to his art after the final victory at Waterloo. For the following twenty years 'Robert Cruikshank's work in etching and illustration paralleled that of his brother. In fact he often collaborated with George Cruikshank and together the brothers illustrated such books as Pierce's, Life in London.
  In 1835 the London publisher, Thomas McLean, acquired a number of the most popular plates of both George and Robert Cruikshank and reprinted them with his address for a second and final edition which was titled, Cruikshankiana. This original etching entitled, A Dandy Fainting or - an Ekquisite in Fits hails from this edition.

Condition: Printed on wove paper and with wide, full margins as published by Thomas McLean in 1835. It is a beautiful impression without staining or foxing. The colouring is rich and vibrant without any sign of fading and in excellent condition throughout. A Dandy Fainting or - an Ekquisite in Fits represents a prime, original example of the etched art of Robert Cruikshank.
