Jean Baptiste Louis Cazin - Vue d'une Ferme Pres Beaumont

Vue d'une Ferme Pres Beaumont

Jean-Baptiste Louis Cazin's original etching, Vue d'une Ferme Pres Beaumont is printed upon early wove paper and with large margins on three sides as published in Paris around 1795. This view is fine, original example of the early etched landscape art created by the French artist, Jean-Baptiste-Louis Cazin.

Title: Vue d'une Ferme Pres Beaumont
Artist: Cazin, Jean-Baptiste-Louis (Paris, Active, 1791 - 1810)
Date: c. 1795
Medium: Original Etching
Note: Jean Baptiste Louis Cazin: A French landscape painter and etcher of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, Jean-Baptiste-Louis Cazin studied art in Paris under Jollain. Both his etchings and paintings were annually exhibited at the Paris Salons from 1791 to 1810. It is generally believed that the artist died sometime around 1830.
Of great interest is the etched work of Cazin, particularly his views of landscape and villages around Paris. Both the art of etching and landscape depictions were not common in French art during the final years of the eighteenth century. Cazin's work, therefore, looks forward to the first great landscape etchers of the 1840's and 1850's -- the Barbizon School artists such as Corot, Daubigny and Jacque. Vue d'une Ferme Pres Beaumont is one of a set of views (all designed and etched by Cazin) of the French countryside published in Paris around 1795.
