Lloyd Van Pitterson: An original lithograph by the Jamaican/African American artist, Lloyd Van Pitterson, View from the Balcony (Untitled Composition) probably dates from the mid 1970's. In this decade Van Pitterson moved from his native Jamaica to the United States and studied the printmaking techniques of lithography and serigraphy there. Both his paintings and original prints are notable for their strong patterns of colors and lines.

Note: Lloyd Van Pitterson: A twentieth century Jamaican/African American artist, Lloyd Van Pitterson studied art under Edna Manley and Joseph Locke in his native country. In 1965 he made art his full time career and both taught art techniques and directed his own gallery in Jamaica. Lloyd Van Pitterson moved to the United States around 1970 and began exhibiting his art on an international scale. One man exhibitions of his paintings and prints were held in Germany, Canada, America, Trinidad and Jamaica.
  Today the art of Lloyd Van Pitterson is included in the National Gallery of Jamaica as well as in Jamaican Embassies in London, Berlin and elsewhere. Private collectors of his art include Nelson Rockefeller, Elizabeth Taylor and Peter Finch.

This original lithograph is finely printed and in excellent condition throughout. View from the Balcony (Untitled Composition) represents a large and striking example of the twentieth century art of Lloyd Van Pitterson.
