With the exception of a one year absence, Wenzel Hollar spent the remainder of his life in England, leaving a masterful artistic record of the times and of his talents. Wenzel Hollar's art covers portrait, illustrative, costume, topographical and architectural subjects. Today he is regarded as a master etcher in all these fields.
Portrait of John Clenche was first published in 1666, in Sir Dugdale's, Origines Juridiciales, an early and important work on English legal procedures.
