Doug West

Doug West - La Mer

La Mer (The Sea)

Doug West's original silkscreen (serigraph) "La Mer" (The Sea) is printed upon pure rag paper and with full, bevelled margins as published in a signed and numbered edition of 130 impressions in New York in 1985. This impression bears blindstamp of the publisher, John Szoke Graphics in the lower right corner and is signed, dated and numbered, ‘49/130’ by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. A fine, contemporary painter and printmaker, Doug West is known primarily for his landscapes of the American Southwest. "La Mer" would seem to represent a scene of the coastline in either Southern California or in Hawaii. During the 1970’s the artist spent considerable time in both States.
