Christmas Greetings

Helen Stevens's original etching, "Christmas Greetings" is printed upon fine, Japon paper and with full margins as printed by the artist in Chicago in 1911. The etching was intended as a Christmas card and it reads, "Christmas Greetings from Thomas & Helen & Allen Stevens, A D MCMXI". It depicts a snowy landscape scene with a family walking in the distance. This is a charming example of the original etched art created by the American artist, Helen B. Stevens.

Note: Helen B. Stevens 'Helen Stevens': An early twentieth century American etcher, Helen Stevens first studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago. She then finished her studies in etching techniques in London, under Frank Brangwyn. Helen Stevens was a full member of both the Chicago Society of Etchers and the Pittsburgh Art Association. Among the awards she received for her etchings was the Bronze Medal at the 1915 Pan Pacific Exposition in San Francisco.
  During her career, Helen Stevens also held the posts of Instructor of Etching and assistant curator of prints at the Art Institute of Chicago. This beautiful etching was obviously created by the artist as a Christmas card.
Size: 5 7/8 X 4 1/2 (Sizes in inches are approximate, height preceding width of plate-mark or image.)

Condition: Printed upon fine, Japon paper and with full margins as printed by the artist in Chicago in 1911. A fine impression with full plate-tone and in excellent condition throughout. Christmas Greetings represents a charming example of the original etched art of Helen B. Stevens 'Helen Stevens'.
