Leslie Smith's original silkscreen, "Het Loo", was created by the British artist in 1991. It contains at least twenty separate colour printings of precise colour registrations. "Het Loo" depicts a view of the famous gardens of the Dutch Royal Palace started by Prince William of Orange in the 1680's. These gardens of Het Loo represent the finest elements of Baroque garden art. This impression is printed upon fine, hand-made laid paper bearing the 'Arches France' watermark and with full, deckled margins as published in 1991. It is signed, dated and numbered by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. Het Loo is a superb, original example of the landscape art created by the British artist, Leslie Smith.

Note: Leslie Smith: A contemporary British painter and print maker, Leslie Smith studied at the Maidstone Art School (1972) and took post graduate studies at the Royal Academy Schools in London. During the 1980's and 1990's his art has been the subject of exhibitions in both England and Holland.
  Leslie Smith's art concentrates upon formal gardens, both real and imaginary. A meticulous craftsman, he states, "I aim to take a snapshot in time, in which everything is ordered in a vaguely surreal atmosphere enhanced by the conspicuous absence of people." *
  Leslie Smith's first silkscreens, Sheffield Park Garden in Autumn and Stourhead in Winter, were created by the artist in the mid 1990's. Each print contained over twenty separate colour printings. This striking rendition, entitled Het Loo, contains at least that amount of precise colour registrations. It depicts the famous gardens of the Dutch Royal Palace. Started by Prince William of Orange in the 1680's, the gardens of Het Loo represent the finest elements of Baroque garden art.
