Barbara Martin Smith - Rhythms

Rhythms

Barbara Martin Smith's original drawing Rhythms is drawn upon a large sheet of smooth, archival paper and with full margins as created by the artist in 1979. Patterns produced by the natural world have long been a cornerstone of Smith's art. She states, "The random pattern of natural rhythms, the invisible forces which cause these rhythms and which shape what we see, contrasts between inner and outer perspectives, and conflicts between rhythms interest me. When I 'move with the tides' I feel in harmony with the universe, and know there is hope for life on this planet." This seascape is a striking, original example of the art created by the American artist, Barbara Martin Smith.
