Note:	Louis Ruyl 'Louis H. Ruyl ': Equally well known for both his etchings and illustrated books, Louis Ruyl specialized in both architectural and landscape views. He was a full member of both the Stowaway Club and of the Artists Guild of the Authors' League of America. Some of his more famous illustrated books include, Cape Cod Old and New, Old Post Road, from Boston to Plymouth and From Provincetown to Portsmouth.
	In all probability Louis Ruyl was commissioned by the Williamsburgh Savings Bank to etch this architectural study shortly after construction was finished. This large art deco structure clearly dominated all the surrounding landmarks at this time. This original etching is thus of great importance in the history of Williamsburgh.

Condition:	Printed upon laid paper with the 'J. Whatman' watermark and with wide, full margins. Signed in the plate to the lower right by Ruyl and signed in pencil by him under the plate-mark. Also the artist has written the title of the piece along the lower margin. A fine, early impression and in excellent condition throughout. The Williamsburgh Savings Bank: New Building represents a fine, original example of the architectural art of Louis Ruyl.
