Untitled Composition (Op Art)

David Roth's original silkscreeen, an "Untitled Composition" (Op Art) is related to his famous string paintings which Roth produced during the 1970's and 1980's. Briefly these paintings are constructed with fibers in which Roth builds his image into a three dimensional work. Space, color and form become key elements, as is the case with this original serigraph (silkscreen). This impression is printed upon thick, pure rag paper and with large, full margins as published in New York in 1980. It is signed, dated and numbered by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. This untitled composition is a classic example of American op art and a fine, original example of the silkscreen art created by the American artist, David Roth.

Note: David Roth: A leading American Op Art painter and printmaker, David Roth studied at the Institute of Design, New York, and at the Illinois Institute of Technology, with Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind. Roth completed his education at the School of Visual Arts, New York, under such artists as Milton Glaser and Henry Wolf.
  David Roth first began exhibiting his prints and paintings in the early 1960's. since that time his art has been included in major exhibitions in New York, Chicago, Cleveland, Indianapolis and Boston. For a long period of time he was represented by the Robert Elkon Gallery, New York. This original silkscreen may have been published by this leading gallery.
  The art of David Roth is now represented in many major museums, including, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Newark Museum of Art, Albright Know Museum, Buffalo, and the Museum of Contemporary Arts, Teheran, Iran. Corporate collections include Johnson & Johnson, Coopers & Lybrand, IBM and Philip Morris Inc.
  During his career David Roth has been commissioned for over sixty original prints. Untitled Composition is related to the artist's famous string paintings which he produced during the 1970's and 1980's. Briefly these paintings are constructed with fibers in which Roth builds his image into a three dimensional work. Space, color and form become key elements, as is the case with Untitled Composition. This original serigraph is a classic example of American op art.

Size: 23 3/4 X 22 3/4 (Sizes in inches are approximate, height preceding width of plate-mark or image.)
  Matted with 100% Archival Materials
Condition: Printed upon thick, pure rag paper and with large, full margins as published in New York in 1980. Signed, dated and numbered, '44/150' by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. Containing a very faint crease to the lower left corner of the margin, else a brilliant, full color impression and in very good condition throughout. Untitled Compositionrepresents a prime, original example of the important op art of David Roth.
