It is signed and titled in pencil by Polley and numbered by him along the lower margin.   Frederick Polley: A fine architectural and landscape painter and etcher, Frederick Polley studied art at the Herron Art Institute, Indianapolis, under William Forsyth, before completing his education at the Corcoran Art School, Washington, DC. During his career, Polley exhibited his art at major exhibitions in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. In 1923 he was commissioned by the State of Pennsylvania to etch the buildings of Old German Town. Frederick Polley was a full member of the Chicago Galleries Association, the Salamina Club, New York, and the Indianapolis Art Association.
  Deer Pasture, Adirondacks is typical of Frederick Polley's accomplished work in the medium of landscape etching. Composing the scene almost entirely with fluid and rapidly conceived lines the artist has here conceived a sense of great space and movement. This original etching was printed by Frederick Polley and published by him in New York in a very small edition of fifty signed impressions.

Condition: Printed upon fine, hand-made, laid paper and with full margins as published by the artist around 1925. Signed in pencil by Polley and numbered 3/50 by him along the lower margin. Also, titled in pencil by the artist along the lower edge of the paper (under the matte). Containing slight matte burning in the outer margins, else a rich, early impression and in fine condition throughout. Deer Pasture, Adirondacks is a prime, original example of the famous art of Frederick Polley.
