Ituracos Skog (Turaco Forest)

Brita Molin's original lithograph, "Ituracos Skog" (Turaco Forest) is printed upon thick, archival paper and with full margins as published in an edition of ninety impressions in Stockholm in 1976. It is thumbprinted on the stone and signed, titled, dated and numbered in pencil by Brita Molin along the lower margin. Molin depicts a large turaco (also known as Touraco or Tauraco) within its lush environment of the sub-Saharan forests. "Ituracos Skog" represents a fine, original example of the graphic art by the Swedish artist, Brita Ibz Molin.

Note: Brita Ibz Molin 'Brita Molin': A major Swedish painter and printmaker, Brita Molin studied art techniques at Academie Libre, Konstfack, and then finished her education in Paris at Atelier 17. Shortly after the end of the Second World War (1945), Brita Molin began exhibiting her paintings, etchings and engravings in both France and Sweden. During the following years she gained a strong, international reputation and today her original prints are included in such collections as the Bibliotheque nationale, Paris, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., Cleveland Museum of Art, Georgetown University, and the Finnish National Gallery.
  Brita Molin's large lithograph, "Ituracos Skog" (Turaco Forest), depicts a large turaco within its lush environment. Green, yellow, blue and brown are the dominant colours.
  The Turaco (also known as Touraco or Tauraco) is a large African bird of the sub-Saharan forests and Savannas. It boasts a crested head and the woodland species are brightly coloured. Living mostly in the dense tree canopy they feed on fruits, leaves, buds and flowers.

Condition: Printed upon thick, archival paper and with full margins as published in Stockholm in 1976. Thumb printed on the stone and pencil signed, titled, dated and numbered, '39/90', by the artist along the lower margin. Containing slight light toning, a small water stain in the lower margin and a vertical scratch mark to the upper, middle right about one half inch (1 cm.) in length. Else a beautifully printed, full colour impression and in fair condition throughout. "Ituracos Skog" (Turaco Forest) represents a large, original example of the important printmaking art of Brita Molin.
