Untitled Composition

Magdeleine Mocquot's original deep etching and aquatint, "Untitled Composition", was created by the twentieth century sculptor, medallist and printmaker around 1960. This original 'Artist Proof Impression' is printed upon archival laid paper, signed "M Mocquot" and annotated, 'Epreuve d'etat' (Proof of State) by the artist in pencil. It is an important, original example of the graphic art created by the French artist, Magdeleine Mocquot.

Note: Magdeleine Mocquot: A twentieth century French artist, Magdeleine Mocquot was equally accomplished as a sculptor, medallist and printmaker. She began exhibiting her art in Paris around 1935 and was a regular exhibitor at the Salon des Independants. Magdeleine Mocquot's art was also frequently shown in group exhibitions in Italy, Germany and Austria. She was awarded a Gold Medal for her fine art from the Artistes Francais.
  Magdeleine Mocquot studied printmaking techniques in Paris at Atelier 17. In all probability this fascinating deep etching and aquatint, with its exploration of sculptural form and movement, was created at this influential studio.

Condition: Printed upon archival laid paper and with full, deckled margins as printed around 1960. Signed and annotated, 'Epreuve d'etat' (Proof of State) by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. Apart from slight scuffing in the outer margins, it is a finely printed impression and in very good condition throughout. Untitled Composition represents an important, original example of the twentieth century art of Magdeleine Mocquot.
