The Cincinnati Market Place

Dr. A. Graeme Mitchell's original etching, "The Cincinnati Market Place" is printed on wove paper and with full margins as published around 1940. It is signed in pencil by Mitchell and titled along the lower margin and also contains his "AGM" monogram within the plate. The Cincinnati Market Placee is a fine, original example of the great Cincinnati etched art created by the American Doctor and artist, A. Graeme Mitchell.

Note: Dr. A. Graeme Mitchell: The name of A. Graeme Mitchell is first associated with the field of medicine. A prominent physician and researcher, Mitchell authored such books as Pediatrics and Pediatric Nursing. He was also responsible for gaining much needed funding for the establishment of the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and served as the Hospital Director.
  A. Graeme Mitchell was also a well respected painter and etcher and exhibited his art in Southern Ohio for a period of over thirty years. Many of his works of art depict scenes in and around Cincinnati and provide many fine views of the city and its environs at this time.
  The Cincinnati Market Place was designed and etched by Mitchell sometime around 1940. On the verso of the etching a previous owner has written in pencil, "Etching, Dr. Graeme Mitchell, 'The Market Place'".

Condition: Printed on wove paper and with full margins. Signed in the plate to the lower right with Mitchell's "AGM" monogram and signed in pencil and entitled, "Market Place", along the lower margin. A fine impression and in very good condition throughout. This original etching represents a fine and important example of the Cincinnati art of Dr. A. Graeme Mitchell.
