Noise Barrier

Aaron Marcus's original silkscreen, "Noise Barrier" is printed upon thick, laid paper with the 'Arches, France' watermark and with full, deckled margins as published in an edition of one hundred impressions in 1974. It is signed, titled, dated and numbered by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. This impression originates from the collection of Roger Trlak and contains his inventory number on the verso. "Noise Barrier" is a fine, original example of the contemporary art created by the American artist, Aaron Marcus and of early computer graphics.

Note: Aaron Marcus: A pioneer in the field of computer graphics, Aaron Marcus received his B.A. from Princeton University and his B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Yale University. During the 1970's, Aaron Marcus was a Professor at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Princeton University. His silkscreens were exhibited at such locations as the New Jersey Museum of Fine Arts, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, New York, the Art Museum of Princeton University and at the New York Annual International Computer Arts Festivals.
Provenance: Noise Barrier originates from the collection of Roger Trlak and bearing his inventory number, 'T-1576', on the verso. Roger Trlak (1934-1975) established the commercial art company of Martin-Trlak in Chicago. In 1972 he also opened the RST Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona where he exhibited not only his own large collection of mostly contemporary art but also held important exhibitions of many modern artists. These Included such major American and international printmakers as Joseph Hirsch, Luigi Lucioni and Paul Wunderlich. Among Trlak's closest friends in the arts community were Raphael Soyer, Ivan Albright and Hans Burkhardt. Their original prints and paintings were constantly exhibited at the RST Gallery until it was closed in 1975 due to Trlak's untimely death.

Condition: Printed upon thick, laid paper with the 'Arches, France' watermark and with full, deckled margins as published in 1974. Signed, titled, dated and numbered, '14/100' by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. Two very faint scuff marks on the black surface, visible only when paper is placed near a light at a certain angle, (possibly to to handeling during printing process), Else A finely printed impression and in very good condition throughout. Noise Barrier represents a fine example of the art of Aaron Marcus and of early computer graphics.
