Doris Klein's original lithograph "Checker Game" is printed upon wove paper and with full margins as published in the limited edition of 250 impressions by the 'Associated American Artists' of New York in 1958. This lithograph is signed and titled by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. The Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, lists an impression of Doris Klein's "Checker Game" in its permanent collection.

Note: Doris Klein: A New York City painter and printmaker of figure studies and portraits, Doris Klein studied art under Anton Refregier, James Leshay and Henry Walsh. During her career she exhibited her art in both public and private New York galleries.
  "Checker Game" was the first lithograph created by Doris Klein. It was commissioned by the Associated American Artists, New York, in 1958 and published by them in a sole, limited edition of 250 impressions. During the early 1960's, the artist contributed several more original lithographs to this major publisher. Other original lithographs created by the artist include, Downhill, (Skiers c. 1960) and Ski Bird, (Skier, 1965), The Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Buffalo, lists an impression of Doris Klein's "Checker Game" in its permanent collection, Accession No., P1999.6.292.
  Since its creation in the mid 1930’s the Associated American Artists commissioned original graphic art from such great masters as Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh and others. It published etchings and lithographs of no less stature during the 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s as contributing artists included Jack Levine, Chaim Koppelman, Joseph Margulies, James Kearns, Doris Klein, Gregory Masurovsky, Jack Coughlin and Sidney Chafetz.

Condition: Printed upon wove paper and with full margins as published in New York in 1958. Signed and titled by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. Containing slight light toning, else a finely printed impression and in good condition throughout. "Checker Game" represents a superb, original example of the lithographic art of Doris Klein.
