Note:	Surprisingly little biographical information has emerged concerning Verrall King. It is known that he studied art in London and produced a number of fine architectural and landscape etchings of localities in England, France, Spain and Italy. He appears, however, to have belonged to no major art association or institution. At this time this fate was usually reserved for commercial artists or the dreaded 'tourist' etcher who regurgitated the same tired views of famous places over and over again. Clearly King's art, with its atmospheric handling of form, line and tone falls into neither category. If Verrall King was an amateur artist, he was one of the best.
