Ichigyokusai (Utagawa Kunitaka)

Ichigyokusai - Utagawa Kunitaka - Actor Kumisaboro Playing the Geisha Ohunn One

Actor Kumisaboro Playing the Geisha, Ohunn, One of the Komachi Beauties

Ichigyokusai's original woodcut Actor Kumisaboro Playing the Geisha, Ohunn, One of the Komachi Beauties was published in Edo (Tokyo) by Maruya Jimpachi in 1862. Some confusion exists concerning the artist's signatures. Examples of his art have been signed, 'Ichigyokusai Kunitaka', 'Utagawa Ichigyokusai', 'Utagawa Kunitaka', or simply 'Ichigyokusai'. In this woodcut the artist uses the latter signature. Actor Kumisaboro Playing the Geisha, Ohunn, One of the Komachi Beauties is a fine, original example of the mid nineteenth century art by the Japanese artist, Ichigyokusai (Utagawa Kunitaka).
