Country Study

Bruno Heroux's original etching, "Country Study" is a fine example of his early art. He carefully describes the many figures and furnishings within the central focal point, Heroux suggests the outer regions by bold drypoint and etched lines. This original etching is printed upon thick, wove paper and with full margins as published in Germany around 1895. It is signed by the German artist in the plate and is also signed in pencil in the lower left corner.

Note: Bruno Heroux: Born in Leipzig, Bruno Heroux studied art there at the Academy. A fine painter, Bruno Heroux dedicated much of his career to original etching and lithography. In the final decade of the 19th century, Heroux traveled extensively throughout Germany, creating many fine etchings and lithographs of landscapes, architectural views and figure studies. This interior view of a tavern is characteristic of Bruno Heroux's fine manner of combining strong details with large spatial elements.
  Around 1900, Bruno Heroux moved to Paris for a period of ten years. While there, he regularly exhibited his paintings and prints with the Salon des Artistes Francais and won an award from that institution in 1906. Upon his return to Germany, he accepted the post of Professor of Fine Arts at the Leipzig Academy.
  Country Study is a fine example of Bruno Heroux's early art. Carefully describing the many figures and furnishings within the central focal point, Heroux suggests the outer regions by bold drypoint and etched lines.
