Ernst Haymann's "Bauerin am Ochsenpflug" (Farmers and Oxplough)is an original etching printed upon hand-made, laid paper and with wide margins as published in 1919. It is signed with the Haymann's 'E. H.' Monogramme in the plate and dated. The etching is also signed in pencil by Haymann along the lower margin. "Bauerin am Ochsenpflug" is a beautiful example of early 20th century German art created by Ernst Haymann.

Note: Ernst Haymann 'Monogramme E. H': A fine early twentieth century German etcher, Ernst Haymann first studied privately under Von Knirr before entering the Munich Academy to study etching techniques under Peter Halm and Raab. During his career, Ernst Haymann was equally received for both his figure studies and landscape compositions. In this latter category he etched views in Italy, France, Hungary and throughout Germany. Focusing upon the strenuous labours of a ploughing team, Bauerin am Ochsenpflug is a superb example of Ernst Haymann's art. His ability to capture the motions of the women and animals as well as creating a strong sense of space and perspective makes this original etching one of his finest compositions.
  Bauerin am Ochsenpflug (Farmers and Oxplough)was published in 1919 in Berlin by Wohlgemuth and Lissner. A major German publisher of etchings and woodcuts, Wohlgemuth and Lissner also commissioned such notable artists as Lovis Corinth, Peter Halm, Kaethe Kollwitz and Max Slevogt at this period of time.

Condition: Printed upon hand-made, laid paper and with wide margins. Signed with the artist's monogramme in the plate and dated, '19'. Also the etching is signed in pencil by the artist along the lower margin. Backed on board by a previous owner, but showing no sign of deterioration. A finely printed impression and in excellent condition throughout. This original Ernst Haymann etching is a beautiful example of early 20th century German art.
