"Vienna Street Scene" is a fine, original example of the landscape art created by the Polish artist, Krzysztof Glass

Title: Vienna Street Scene
Artist: Glass, Krzysztof (Cracow (Krakowie), Poland, 1944 - Wieden?, 2000)
Date: 1991
Medium: Original Lithograph
Note: Krzysztof Glass: A Polish painter, printmaker, poet, political scientist and social activist, the many faceted work of Krzysztof Glass was both influential and far reaching. Krzysztof Glass graduated from the University Jagiellonskiego, Cracow, in 1970 and from the Akademii Sztuk Pieknych, Wieden, (Wiednia) in 1976. He also received his Doctorate in Political Science from the University of Wieden in 1994.
As a political theorist Glass wrote many articles and books upon Poland's place within the European Union. He also conjectured upon the differences between Western and Eastern European attitudes and the results of integrating populations. Briefly, Glass was the first to theorize that the emerging material socialism of both Poland and Hungary during the 1970's and 80's was not dependent upon class power but upon emigration.
Krzystof Glass began exhibiting his art as early as 1970. During the following years his paintings, drawings and lithographs were the subject of one man exhibitions in Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Germany and Austria. Primarily concerned with both working class and social themes, this large lithograph is a fine example of his original art.
"Vienna Street Scene" was acquired with a grouping of several original Glass lithographs. Included in this collection were also several posters for a 1990 exhibition in Salzburg of Glass' art entitled, "Tango in Melange: Ausstellung Krzysztof Glass."
