Edward Frank Gillett's original engraaving, Fagin and Nancy is printed upon fine, hand-made, laid paper and with wide full margins as published in a limited edition of 100 signed impressions by Lefevre, Brown & Phillips, London in 1924. This impression is signed in pencil by the artist along the lower right margin. Fagin and Nancy is of course based upon a famous scene in Dickens's, Oliver Twist. It stands as a prime, original example of the engraved art by the British artist, Edward Frank Gillett 'Frank Gillett'.

Note: Edward Frank Gillett 'Frank Gillett': Known for his paintings, engravings and black and white illustrative drawings, Frank Gillett was a leading artist for the Daily Graphic from 1898 to 1908. After that time, Gillett was mainly occupied in painting and engraving sporting subjects and rural scenes. Fagin and Nancy is of course based upon a famous scene in Dickens's, Oliver Twist, and represented quite a departure from Frank Gillett's previous art. It was and is, however, one of the artist's most sought after works as his use of the tonal qualities of drypointing and aquatinting are here seen at their finest.
  Altogether it is estimated that Frank Gillett created slightly less than fifty original drypoint engravings during his career. The most comprehensive collections of Gillett's engraved art are housed in the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
