Hassidic Dance I

John Fenton's original etching and aquatint engraving, Hassidic Dance I is printed upon fine archival paper and with full, deckled margins as published by the Associated American Artists of New York between 1960 and 1970. It is signed, titled and numbered by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. Hassidic Dance I is a fine, original example of the etched art created by the American artist, John Nathaniel Fenton. The Smithsonian American Art Museum includes an impression of Hassidic Dance I in its permanent collection.

Note: John Nathaniel Fenton 'John Fenton': A twentieth century American painter, printmaker and painter, John Fenton studied at the Art Students League, New York, and at Atelier 17, Paris. He also studied under and worked with Federico Castellon and Samuel Adler. During his career Fenton exhibited at such important institutions as the Audubon Artists, National Academy of Design, Museum of Modern Art, New York, Corcoran Gallery, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Butler Institute of American Art and the Art Institute of Chicago. John Fenton was a full member of the Woodstock Art Association and served as an Instructor of Art at New York University.
  Today the etchings and paintings of John Fenton are included in such collections as the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Pennsylvania State University and Suffolk Museum. The Smithsonian American Art Museum includes an impression of Hassidic Dance I in its permanent collection.
  Hassidic Dance I was commissioned by the Associated American Artists, New York, between 1960 and 1970. During this decade this publisher commissioned original etchings, lithographs and woodcuts from such American artists as Harvey Breverman, Federico Castellon, Sidney Chafetz, Morton Garchik, Marion Greenwood, William Gropper, Chaim Gross, James Kearns, Chaim Koppelman, Jack Levine, Joseph Margulies, Karl Schrag, Martin Silverman, Raphael Soyer, Hartwell Yeargans and John Fenton.

Condition: Printed upon fine archival paper and with full, deckled margins as published by the Associated American Artists around the above date. A strongly printed impression and in excellent condition throughout. Signed, titled and numbered, '24/250' by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. Hassidic Dance I represents a prime, original example of the etched art of John Fenton.
