Since that time her art has been exhibited at such major institutions as the National Academy of Design, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
Institutions that include examples of Browning’s art are, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Butler Art Institute and the Detroit Art Institute. Colleen Browning was elected a full Academician of the National Academy in 1966. A few of her original lithographs include, Odalisque, Medium: original lithograph (1971), Collections: Longview Museum of Fine Arts, Window, Medium: original lithograph (1971), Luna, Medium: original lithograph (1965), Collections: University of California, PFA Berkeley Art Museum, Accession Number: 1970.13, and Union Mixer, from Kent Bicentennial Portfolio: Sprint of Independence, Medium: original lithograph (1975), Collections: Walker Art Center, Accession number 1976.25 and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery No. P1975:9.2 and the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Accession number, 76.77.2.
Colleen Browning's famous art has been compared to both the social realism of Jack Levine and the magic realism of Philip Evergood and George Tooker. Yet she has always maintained a most individual stamp that sets her apart from any prevailing fashion. No doubt, the 'unexpected revelation' of Odalisque is how in such simplicity of design there can be such magnificent sensuality.
