Sergio Agostini

Sergio Agostini- The Peasant

The Peasant

Sergio Agostini's original lithograph,The Peasant was created by the 20th century Italian painter and printmaker in 1966. A master of figurative landscapes, The Peasant represents a strong example of Agostini's lifelong exploration of the relationships between form and color. This original lithograph is printed upon a large sheet of smooth, archival paper and with full margins as published in a limited edition of one hundred s. It is signed, dated and numbered by the artist in pencil along the lower margin.

This particular of The Peasant originates from the Vincent Price Collection of Fine Art. Vincent Price (1911-1993) is best known as the actor who starred in numerous low budget and somewhat off the wall horror films. When not at work on the set, however, Price spent much of his time collecting art. Thus from 1962 to 1971 Sears, Roebuck and Company commissioned Vincent Price to select and purchase works of art (mainly lithographs, woodcuts and etchings) to be sold in their stores. Works from the Vincent Price Collection included masterworks by Rembrandt and Picasso, but the majority of art dealt with the work of then contemporary artists. The original Sears, Roebuck and Company stickers are included with this .
