| Claude Grosperrin's original color lithograph, Still Life with a Violin, was published by The Collector's Guild Ltd., New York. A twentieth century French painter and printmaker, Claude Grosperrin's art was regularly purchased by both the government of France and the city of Paris from 1959 until his untimely death in 1977. Still Life with a Violin is composed of vibrant hues of interacting reds, oranges, yellows, greens and blues. Not only the violin, but every object and form depicted seems to take on musical elements. This impression is signed and numbered ‘140/275’ in pencil by the French artist, Claude Grosperrin along the lower margin. |

| Note: | Claude Grosperrin studied art techniques at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris, under Maurice Brianchon (1899-1979). He then completed his education at the Nationale Superieure d'Art Plastique and the Ecole Nationale des Arts Appliques. Shortly thereafter he began exhibiting his paintings and original lithographs in Paris at the Galerie A. Weil and at the Galerie Espace. |
| By 1970 the art of Claude Grosperrin was the subject of one-man exhibitions in Toulouse, Brest, London and New York. For his fine art he also received such medals and prizes as the Prix Forman, Prix Krombert, Prix de l'Afrique de Nord, Medaille d'Or, Taverny, Medaille de Bronze, Le Bourget, and the Medaille 'Argent from the Salon du Jeu de Paume, Versailles. | |
| Today the art of Claude Grosperrin is included in public collections in Paris, Angers, Toulouse, Cologne, Stuttgart, Los Angeles, Seattle and San Francisco. | |
| An original lithograph by Claude Grosperrin, Still Life with a Violin was commissioned and published by The Collector's Guild Ltd. of New York, in a limited edition of two hundred and seventy five impressions. During the 1960's and early 1970's The Collector's Guild commissioned and published a number of original lithographs and etchings by leading contemporary artists from around the world. Pencil signed and numbered ‘140/275’ by the artist along the lower margin. Containing slight matt burning in the outer margin, else a finely printed impression with full coloration and in good condition throughout. Still Life with a Violin represents a prime, original example of the fine art of Claude Grosperrin. |
