Note: Carol Jablonsky: A well known contemporary sculptor, etcher and lithographer, Carol Jablonsky went to college in Boston. She studied art in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico in the early 1960's. Jablonsky also first began to experiment with original printmaking techniques during this period. Since that time, Carol Jabolonsky's graphic art has been widely exhibited in both the United States and in Mexico.
Currently, Carol Jablonsky's art is included in the permanent collections of such institutions as the National Society of Painters, New York, the El Paso Museum of Art and the Palace of the Legion of Honor, San Francisco.
Lion and Riders is a fine example of Jablonsky's creative etching techniques. It is actually two etchings with the inner image (printed in deeply etched sepia tones) comprising the first panel. The outer embossed etching acts as a framework to the inner etching and is completely printed without inks to produce a three dimensional quality. Like all of Jablonsky's original prints, Lion and Riders is both highly innovative and charmingly original.
