Andre Rouveyre's original woodcut, "Kopf" is printed upon fine hand made paper and with full margins as published by Genius in Munich, Germany in 1920. This portrait study is signed in the block with Rouveyre's 'R' monogramme in the upper right corner. Also the publishers have printed this title on the verso. This woodcut is as fine, original example of the famous Expressionist art created by the French artist, Andre Rouveyre.

Note: Andre Rouveyre: A leading early twentieth century French writer, designer and graphic artist, Andre Rouveyre studied at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts, Paris. During the first years of the twentieth century Andre Rouveyre established himself as a leading avant guarde writer and designer. A close friend of Apollinaire, Rouveyre championed the controversial art of such future masters as Picasso, Bracque and Matisse. Matisse and Rouveyre often worked together and Matisse created a famous portrait of him.
  Andre Rouveyre's talents are best known in the field of the book arts. Many of his finest works in this medium are both written by him and illustrated with original woodcuts, linocuts or lithographs. Some of his more famous works are, Visages des Contemporains (1913), Le Gynecee, Phedre and Repli (1947).
  Kopf was commissioned by the German Expressionist periodical, Genius. From 1919 to 1921 Genius published articles by leading Expressionist writers. It also commissioned original lithographs and woodcuts from such important artists as Schmitt-Rottluff, Franz Marc, Erick Heckel, Frans Masereel, Alexander Archipenko, Carl Hofer and others. Andre Rouveyre's Kopf was published by them in 1920.

Condition: Printed upon fine hand made paper and with full margins as published in Munich in 1920. Signed in the block with Rouveyre's 'R' monogramme in the upper right corner. Also the publishers have printed this title on the verso, "Andre Rouveyre / Kopf. Originalholzschnitt (woodcut). 1920." A deeply printed impression and in excellent condition throughout. This original woodcut represents a prime example of the famous Expressionist art of Andre Rouveyre.
