August Still Life

Elizabeth Osborne's "August Still Life" is an original silkscreen printed upon thick, pure rag paper and with large, full margins as published in New York in 1988. This impression is signed, dated and numbered, by the artist in pencil along the lower margin and bearing both the publisher's and printer's blindstamps to the lower left corner. "August Still Life" is a fine, original example of the art created by the American artist, Elizabeth Osborne.

Note: Elizabeth Osborne: A contemporary Philadelphia painter and printmaker, Elizabeth Osborne first studied art at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. In 1959 she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.F.A. In 1963 she was awarded the Fulbright Scholarship to complete her studies in Paris, France. During the same year, Elizabeth Osborne began teaching painting techniques at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.
  Elizabeth Osborne's first major solo show took place at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in 1967. Since that time her prints and paintings have been the subject of exhibitions at the Fishbach Gallery, New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, North Dakota Museum of Art, Northern Arizona University and (most recently) Locks Gallery, Philadelphia. During her fine career, Elizabeth Osborne has been the recipient of many awards including the Rosenthal Foundation Award: American and National Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, N.Y., 1968, and the Percy M. Owens Memorial Award, 1989.
  In her art, Elizabeth Osborne is known as a gifted colorist. Concentrating mostly upon landscapes, still lifes and figure studies she builds her compositions upon broad, horizontal bands of colors with simplified, almost abstracted shapes. August Still Life is a splendid example of her artistic techniques.

Condition: Printed upon thick, pure rag paper and with large, full margins as published in New York in 1988. Signed, dated and numbered, 'CVIII/CXXV' by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. Also bearing both the publisher's and printer's blindstamps to the lower left corner. A brilliant, full color impression and in very good condition throughout. August Still Life represents a prime, original example of the art of Elizabeth Osborne.
