The art of Dennis Corrigan has always featured a delightful
assemblage of both surreal and bizarre imagery. During the 1970's and early
1980's the artist's prints often focused upon popular figures from both
the past and present. Other titles of his art from this period include, Brahms
Amusing Himself, Queen Victoria Troubled by Flies and President
Nixon Hiding in a Small Town. |

This delightful
etching and aquatint clearly contains the admirable surreal
and satiric elements of Dennis Corrigan's graphic world. The Brooklyn Museum,

under the title, Nathaniel Hawthorne Posing With a Formally dressed Gopher, Accession
