Passing Train

In Ernst Bosch's original etching, "Passing Train", an elderly wayfarer, accompanied by his dog and cart horse, pensively smokes his pipe in the rain while watching a locomotive. One method of transportation is giving way to another. It is as if he and we are witnessing an end of an era.

This impression of "Passing Train" is printed upon nineteenth century wove paper and signed within the plate by Ernst Bosch to the lower left.

Note: Ernst Bosch: A nineteenth century German painter, etcher and lithographer, Ernst Bosch studied at the Academy of Dusseldorf under Schadow, Solm and Hildebrandt. In his art, Ernst Bosch concentrated upon genre scenes, animal depictions and portraits. Today his fine art will be found in the museums of Dusseldorf, Bremen and Hanover. Ernst Bosch's etchings, such as "Passing Train" are based entirely upon his own designs.
Size: 7 1/4 X 8 7/8 (Sizes in inches are approximate, height preceding width of plate-mark or image.)
  Matted with 100% Archival Materials
Condition: Printed upon nineteenth century wove paper and with margins extending at least one half inch from the image on all sides. Containing several scrape marks in the outer margins and one slight scrape mark within the etching (at the bottom of the old man's waistcoat), else in fair condition throughout. Signed within the plate by the artist to the lower left. Altogether "Passing Train" represents a fine, original example of the art of Ernst Bosch.
