Art of The Print: Mexican Artist Index: This page contains a listing of original works of art by Mexican artists or art depicting Mexico and its people. These artworks date from the 19th century to the 20th and early 21st century. Our Gallery, Art of the Print / www.artoftheprint.com offers a wide selection of international fine art. We sell original paintings, watercolors, drawings, monotypes, engravings, etchings, lithographs and other mediums of original graphic art. These works of art date from the Renaissance period to the contemporary art period. We guarantee the authenticity of every work of art 100%. Full documentation and certification is provided.

The original artworks listed on this page were created by leading Mexican painters, illustrators, watercolour artists and or original printmakers. Many of Mexico's greatest nineteenth and twentieth century artists, created murals, paintings and original prints depicting aspects of the politics and social conditions of the turbulent times they lived in. Jose Guadalupe Posada's prints cover an amazing range of imagery. National events, disasters, miracles, abnormalities, executions, illustrations to popular songs (corridos), broadsides and street gazettes (gaceta callejera) cover a large portion of his artistic oeuvre. As well, his notorious 'Calaveras' have permanently been placed at the summit of Mexican artistic expression. By means of the Calaveras (Spanish for skulls or skeletons), Posada mimed practically every human folly. In a very strong way, Posada is to Mexico what Daumier, Goya and Hogarth are to their countries. Masters of the succeeding generation, such as Rivera and Orozco, were deeply influenced and indebted to Posada's art. Pablo O'Higgins created two murals in the United States and in keeping with his political art and views; both promote union solidarity and empower the worker. One of Mexico's greatest twentieth century artists, Ignacio Aguirre. His paintings and original prints inevitably depicted aspects of the politics and social conditions of the turbulent times.

Other major twentieth century artists listed are the painter, sculptor and lithographer, Luis Arenal, Hugo Brehme who was an early Mexican photographer, the printmaker and sculptor, Carl Lewis Pappe, the Mexican photographer, printmaker and painter, Mariana Yampolsky and Jean Charlot whose art is most often linked with that of Mexico. But as an important printmaker, muralist and scholar his influence spread over all of Latin America and the United States.

We provide search links to different Categories ranging from old master engravings and original fine art to speciality collecting such as animals, botanicals, genre, maps, military art, posters and advertising, satirical art, sports and many other interests. You can also link to pages focused on the century you prefer or by the artists' nationalities.

The index is set up in alphabetical order by artist's last name. This index contains a complete listing of all the Mexican artists included in this website with links to a full description of each item and images when available.
