Associated American Artists: the Associated American Artists of New York was founded in the mid 1930's. The Associated American Artists commissioned original graphic art from such great masters as Grant Wood, Thomas Hart Benton, Reginald Marsh and others. It published etchings and lithographs of no less stature during the 1960's as contributing artists included Jack Levine, Chaim Koppelman, Joseph Margulies, James Kearns, Irwin D. Hoffman (Irwin Hoffman), and Sidney Chafetz.

George Barrie: From 1893 to 1895, the Philadelphia publisher, George Barrie, was at work upon a large and lavish series of original lithographs and etchings detailing exhibits of all the fine arts from participating countries of the World's Columbian Exposition. These prints mainly dealt with the paintings and sculpture that were exhibited there.

Vervielfaltigende Kunst: A Viennese art publisher, "Vervielfaltigende Kunst" issued its first original graphic work in 1871. During the following sixty years, it published masterworks by Austrian, German, Swiss, French, Czech and English artists. More internationally focused and less conservative than most print publishers of the time, it took a leading role in the revival of original graphic art. Vervielfaltigende Kunst is now regarded as one of the most vital art publishers of its day and individual prints from this publication are highly coveted by collectors.

Condition: Printed upon thick, hand-made, mulberry paper and with full margins as printed and published in 1964 in the limited edition of 210 impressions. Signed, titled, dated and numbered, '4/210', by the artist in pencil along the lower margin. Containing some creasing, particularly within the whitened areas of the boat. This creasing, I suspect, was caused by the pressure of the block(s) upon the softened mulberry paper. Else, a magnificent full colour impression and in excellent condition throughout. Fishing Boat and Green Crow stands as a prime example of the famous Japanese woodcut art of Fumio Kitaoka.

This is a finely printed, strong impression and it is in excellent condition throughout. Containing the vertical folding marks, as usual. Bearing minor, marginal tears (not within the actual map) as well as two small spots of staining within the lower map, else a fine early impression and in very good condition throughout. This large, very detailed map of the Empire of Germany Including all the States Comprehended under that Name: With the Kingdom of Prussia, Etc. represents a very important, original example of eighteenth century cartography.

Condition: Printed on nineteenth century Japanese mulberry (rice) paper and with full margins as published by Heikichi in 1886. A beautiful, bright, early impression and in excellent condition throughout.
Note: Prints from the Instructive Models of Lofty Ambition were only issued at the time of publication. No subsequent editions exist. This is a very early impression of Young Nobleman, Toyotumi Hideyashu, is Moved to Tears by the Performance of the Female Dancer, Okuni as is evident by the appearance of wood grain in many areas of the woodcut. Altogether this is a splendid example of Kobayashi Kiyochika’s important art.
