Samia Halaby's original lithograph, "Cleveland" is printed upon thick laid BFK Rives paper and with full, deckled margins as published by the Print Club of Cleveland in the limited edition of two hundred and sixty impressions in 1975. This impression is signed, dated, titled and numbered by the artist in pencil. "Cleveland" is a fine, original example of the lithographic art created by the contemporary Palestinian Artist, Samia Halaby.

Note: Samia Halaby: One of Palestine's leading contemporary artists, Samia Halaby is equally accomplished as both a painter and as a printmaker. In 1948 she emigrated with her family first to Beirut and then to the United States. She received fine arts degrees from the University of Cincinnati (1954-59), Michigan State University (1959-60) and from Indiana University (1961-63). During the following eighteen years Samia Halaby taught extensively as both an Assistant and Associate Professor at such institutions as the University of Hawaii, Kansas City Art Institute, the University of Michigan and Yale University School of Art (1972-82).
  Samia Halaby's first one artist exhibition took place in Chicago in 1971. Since then her art has been the subject of major exhibitions at Yale University (1972), Bridgeport, CT (1983), Amman, Jordan (1995), Damascus, Syria (1997), Beirut (1999) and Ramallah, Palestine and New York City (2000). Her paintings and prints are now included in such collections as the Art Institute of Chicago, The Guggenheim Museum, the Nelson Rockhill Gallery of Art, Yale University Gallery, the Tamarind Institute, the Palm Springs Desert Museum, the British Museum, London, and Institute du Monde Arab.
  Most of Samia Halaby's original lithographs date from the 1970's decade. During this period she was a guest artist at the famous Tamarind Lithography Workshop and produced fourteen limited edition lithographs there. As well she was commissioned by several other institutions such as The Print Club of Cleveland. Recently Samia Halaby has worked at the Maurel Studios developing a method for silk screen monotypes.
  The Print Club of Cleveland: Cleveland was commissioned by the Print Club of Cleveland and published by them in 1975 in a sole limited edition of 260 impressions. (The original presentation sticker is included.). The Print Club of Cleveland is a non-profit adjunct organization and the country's first museum-affiliated print club devoted to the promotion of art and printmaking as a fine art for printmakers and collectors alike. Since its creation in 1919, it has helped to support the growth of the department of prints and drawings at the Cleveland Museum of Fine Arts and has also been a source of great enrichment for collectors of fine prints. The club has commissioned original etchings, engravings, lithographs, woodcuts and other forms of original graphic art from such fine American artists as John Taylor Arms, Suzanne Anker, Luigi Lucioni, Will Barnet, Lyonel Feininger, Henry George Keller, Louis Lozowick, Karl Schrag, David Jansheski, Deborah Remington, and Peter Takal as well as from leading international artists such as Henri Matisse, Edmund Blampied, Michael di Cerbo, Samia Halaby, Paolo Boni, Juvenal Sanso and Norman Ackroyd and many other outstanding artists.

Condition: Printed upon thick laid BFK Rives paper and with full, deckled margins as published by the Print Club of Cleveland in the limited edition of 260 impressions in 1975. Signed, dated, titled and numbered '11/260' by the artist in pencil along the lower plate-mark. Also, bearing the blindstamp of the Print Club on the verso of the paper. A brilliantly printed impression and in excellent condition throughout. Cleveland represents a prime, original example of the famous art of Samia Halaby.
